The 4th of July is a time for celebration. It is also a time to remember what we were fighting for back then, and what we are allowing to slip through our fingers in modern times. A large part of that problem is divisiveness. After 9/11, everywhere you looked you would see bumper stickers that read ‘United We Stand!’ But what about the last part of the quote? ‘Divided we fall.’ We are so divided these days. Everyone has their heels dug in and are completely unwavering. The right and left are as bad as each other. Each side only watches, reads, or listens to media and others that share the same views, making us sheep to each side’s rhetoric. People aren’t willing to listen to arguments from the opposing side. They cancel and unfriend people that disagree with them. Relationships end just because they disagree on one or two topics. It’s simply pathetic. We allow others to dictate what we feel and think. Self-thought and critical thinking is dying. Our Forefathers would be rolling over in their graves if they saw how this country was behaving.
Enjoy your barbecues, parties, and fireworks (safely), but keep in mind why we celebrate this day and what we have to do to keep our free nation. Freedom isn’t free. It’s We The People, not We The Government, We The Political Parties, or We The Right or Left…WE THE PEOPLE! Let’s figure out a way to come together, meet in the middle, compromise, and collaborate. Thank you and have a great 4th of July and a great rest of the year.
Enjoy this video from Black Rifle Coffee Company. If you are not familiar with them, look them up on YouTube. These guys make some great videos as does Matt Best’s channel.
