Why Blackwatch? What’s so special about our training? In a nutshell, the personal touch. First, we cover far more than the basic four topics required by Excise and License. Every topic we cover ends with open discussion for questions and ideas, ensuring that the students are involved, participating, and learning. We not only instruct students to de-escalate, we teach them how to use psychology and proven methods with lecture, video, discussion, and scenario-based roleplay. The roleplay allows a guard to experience what it’s like in a safe environment before they need to use it in the field. We also teach our students proven methods for Conflict Resolution and the Use of Force Continuum. Optionally, but at no additional charge, we teach your guards various arrest control techniques as well as an easy-to-learn self-defense strategy that can get you out of most any situation quickly, with little effort, and even if the attacker is armed. We can also instruct your guards in chemical defense, baton, and firearms with NRA certified instructors. Our firearms endorsement course is founded on the NRA principles of safety and responsibility, but designed with security and law enforcement in mind. This gives the guard a well-rounded firearms instruction in which to learn firearm safety, maintenance, proper positioning and technique, and so much more. The live-fire certification is based off of the Georgia State Police certification with a few adaptations. It is a 50-round certification including various positions and emergency reload after simulated misfire. Experience the Blackwatch difference today!

Security Guard Training FAQ
- How do I become a security guard? In Colorado, there is no statewide regulations around the security industry. However, Some municipalities have enacted their own policies regarding background checks, physicals, training, and licensing. The City of Denver has the strictest standards for security companies and guards. At BLACKWATCH, we meet and exceed these standards and practice the same standards throughout the state. To be a security guard in Denver, you must meet these minimum requirements:

- Is the security guard exam hard?In Colorado, there is no standard exam for becoming a security guard. Each training provider has its own methods for determining pass or fail. Generally speaking, if you pay attention to the instruction given, it shouldn't be too hard to pass. Our training program is broken down into sections. Depending on what your company requires, not all guards get all sections of our training. Each section has a quiz at the end. Students must score 80% or better to pass. The scores of each quiz are averaged to make your final score.
